Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or two knives until the mixture looks like coarse crumbs.
- Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir with a fork until it just starts to come together.
- Fold in the cheddar cheese, diced ham, and chives until evenly mixed.
Baking
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it to about 3/4-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to press straight down to cut the biscuits.
- Move the biscuits to your prepared baking sheet, spacing them about an inch apart.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until the biscuits rise beautifully and are golden brown on top.
Notes
These biscuits are best served warm. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for a month.
