Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper, letting it overhang for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, blend 1/2 cup of butter with 3/4 cup of sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add 1 whole egg, 1 tsp of vanilla, and 1/2 tsp of almond extract. Stir in 3 tbsp of softened cream cheese.
- Separately, mix 1 tsp of baking powder with 2 cups of all-purpose flour, then gently incorporate into the wet ingredients.
- Smooth the dough into the prepared dish.
Baking
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until edges are golden and the center is set.
Frosting
- As the bars cool, whip together 1/4 cup of softened butter, 2 cups of powdered sugar, 2 tbsp of milk, and 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract. Add pink food coloring if desired.
Serving
- Once completely cooled, spread frosting over the bars and top with sprinkles.
- Slice into squares and serve.
Notes
These bars are best served at room temperature or slightly chilled. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
