Ingredients

For the Croissants
  • 1 roll Rolle Blätterteig (puff pastry)
  • 150 g Parmaschinken (Parma ham)
  • 100 g Frischkäse (cream cheese)
  • 50 g Rucola (arugula)
  • 1 large Eigelb (egg yolk) For egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon Milch (milk) For egg wash

Method

Preparation
  1. Cut the puff pastry into triangles and roll them up into croissants.
  2. Whisk together the egg yolk and milk, then brush this mixture over the croissants.
Baking
  1. Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (356°F) for about 20–25 minutes until golden brown.
  2. Let cool, then slice open the croissants and spread cream cheese inside, followed by arugula and Parma ham.

Notes

Use store-bought puff pastry to save time. Don’t skip the egg wash; it gives those croissants a beautiful, golden glaze. Experiment with different fillings like spinach and feta or even Nutella and banana for a sweet twist. These croissants can stay in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, or freeze them for up to a month.
