Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, mash the bananas until smooth.
- Stir in applesauce, honey (or maple syrup), and vanilla extract until combined.
- In another bowl, combine whole wheat flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, stirring until just combined.
- If desired, fold in nuts or chocolate chips for an extra crunch or sweetness.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool before slicing and serving.
Notes
Serve fresh from the oven or with almond butter or cream cheese. Store wrapped in plastic for up to 5 days in the fridge, or freeze for up to 3 months.
