Ingredients

Main ingredients
  • 1 piece premade pie crust (9-inch) Use store-bought for easy cleanup.
  • 8 slices bacon Fry until crispy for best texture.
  • 1 cup Swiss cheese (shredded) Can substitute with cheddar or Gruyère.
  • 4 large eggs Add an extra egg for a fluffier texture if desired.
  • 1.5 cups heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or whole milk.
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons fresh chives (chopped) For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F.
  2. Fry bacon until crispy brown, about 8 minutes. Drain on paper towels and chop into small pieces.
  3. Roll out your pie crust and press it into a pie dish, trimming any excess.
  4. Prick the bottom of the pie crust with a fork to prevent bubbling.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together eggs and heavy cream until well combined.
  6. Mix in salt, pepper, and nutmeg until smooth.
  7. Sprinkle bacon into the pie crust, then top with shredded Swiss cheese.
  8. Pour the egg mixture over the ingredients and sprinkle fresh chives on top.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
  2. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

This quiche can be stored in the fridge for up to 3 days or frozen for up to 3 months. To reheat, bake slices in the oven at 350°F until warmed through. Consider serving with a side salad for a fresh contrast.
