Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 lb ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese Can substitute with pepper jack for extra flavor.
  • ½ tsp garlic powder Additional garlic flavor.
  • Salt and pepper To taste.
  • 6 pieces hamburger buns, toasted Toast until golden-brown.
Special Sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise Use vegan mayo for a vegan version.
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 2 tsp pickle relish
  • ½ tsp white vinegar
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp onion powder

Method

Cooking
  1. Heat a medium skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add 1 lb of ground beef, using a spatula to break it up as it cooks.
  3. Stir in the finely diced onion and cook until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle with ½ teaspoon of garlic powder and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  5. In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle relish, white vinegar, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well until the sauce is smooth and creamy.
  6. Once the beef is ready, reduce the heat to low and mix in the prepared special sauce. Allow it to simmer for a few minutes.
  7. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted smoothly into the mix.
  8. Toast your hamburger buns until golden-brown and slightly crisp.
  9. Spoon the cheesy beef mixture onto the bottom halves of the toasted buns and cover with the top half.
