Preparation
- Preheat your oven according to the instructions on the frozen French fries package.
- Arrange 26 ounces of frozen fries in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Cooking
- Bake the fries until golden brown, turning once for the best crispiness.
- In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter over medium heat until it bubbles gently.
- Sprinkle in 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour, whisking constantly to form a smooth roux.
- Gradually pour in 2 cups of milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Let it simmer until thickened.
- Season with 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon white pepper, 2 teaspoons ranch seasoning, and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder.
- Reduce heat to low and slowly add 8 ounces of shredded white cheddar cheese, stirring continuously until melted.
- Place the crispy fries on a serving plate and drizzle with the warm cheese sauce.
- Sprinkle with the remaining 1/4 teaspoon cayenne powder for extra zing.
Notes
Serve warm with a side of ranch dressing or homemade garlic aioli. For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
