  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Sifted to create a lighter texture.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt Reduce if using salted butter.
Optional Decorations
  • to taste red gel icing color For coloring the dough.
  • to taste green gel icing color For coloring the dough.

Preparation
  1. Gather your ingredients. Ensure that the butter is softened.
  2. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  3. Cream the butter and sugar in a large bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the egg, vanilla, and almond extracts, and mix well.
  5. Gradually sift in the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
  6. If using, divide the dough and knead in the desired gel colors.
Baking
  1. Load your cookie press with the dough and press onto an ungreased cookie sheet.
  2. Top with sprinkles, if desired.
  3. Bake for about 6-8 minutes, until edges are lightly golden.
  4. Let cool on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or freeze for longer storage. Dough can be frozen for later use.
