  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced Choose ripe strawberries for better flavor
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar Adjust according to your taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Adds a nice tang to the sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract Optional, for added flavor

Method
 

Cooking the Sauce
  1. In a saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar over medium heat.
  2. Stir occasionally until the strawberries start to release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Add the lemon juice and vanilla extract, if using.
  4. Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool.
  6. Serve drizzled over your favorite desserts.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 1 week. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
