Cooking the Sauce
- In a saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries and sugar over medium heat.
- Stir occasionally until the strawberries start to release their juices, about 5-7 minutes.
- Add the lemon juice and vanilla extract, if using.
- Continue to cook for another 5 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
- Remove from heat and let cool.
- Serve drizzled over your favorite desserts.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for about 1 week. It can be frozen for up to 3 months.
