Ingredients

For the Flank Steak
  • 1.5 pounds flank steak Juicy cut of beef
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil For marinating
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced Adds flavor
  • 1 teaspoon salt To taste
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper To taste
For the Salad
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved Fresh and sweet
  • 8 ounces fresh mozzarella balls Creamy cheese
  • 0.5 cup fresh basil, chopped For garnish
  • 3 tablespoons balsamic glaze Or reduced balsamic vinegar for a similar flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Marinate the steak by placing it in a large resealable plastic bag with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Seal the bag and massage the marinade into the steak. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.
Cooking
  1. Place the marinated steak on the grill and sear each side for 4-5 minutes, or until your desired doneness is achieved.
  2. Once cooked, remove the steak and let it rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes.
Assembly
  1. While the steak is resting, mix the halved cherry tomatoes, mozzarella balls, and chopped basil in a bowl. Toss gently to combine.
  2. Thinly slice the rested steak against the grain and arrange it on a serving platter.
  3. Scatter the tomato and mozzarella mixture over the steak and drizzle with balsamic glaze.

Notes

For best results, serve over a bed of arugula or alongside grilled vegetables. The salad can be stored separately from the steak to maintain freshness.
