  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Bring to room temperature
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs At room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour Sifted to avoid lumps
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups dark chocolate chips or chunks (60–70% cocoa)
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Bring Ingredients to Room Temperature.
  2. Preheat the Oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-4 minutes).
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated before adding the next, then add vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined; be careful not to overmix.
  7. Fold in the dark chocolate chips and optional nuts.
Baking
  1. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until they are golden brown around the edges.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for about 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

These cookies are best enjoyed warm with a glass of milk or a scoop of ice cream. You can store them at room temperature for 3-5 days in an airtight container.
