  • 2 ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled Melt until just liquid, then let cool until barely opaque.
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, room temperature
  • 1 large egg yolk, room temperature
  • 1 ½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method
 

Preparation
  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl until just liquid, then let it cool until barely opaque.
  3. Combine the melted butter with both brown and granulated sugars, whisking for about 2 minutes.
  4. Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three portions, stirring gently.
  6. Using a rubber spatula, fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
  1. Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
  2. Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
  3. Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.

Notes

For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
