Preparation
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, cornstarch, and salt.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl until just liquid, then let it cool until barely opaque.
- Combine the melted butter with both brown and granulated sugars, whisking for about 2 minutes.
- Beat in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture in three portions, stirring gently.
- Using a rubber spatula, fold in the chocolate chips.
Baking
- Scoop rounded tablespoons of dough onto parchment-lined baking sheets.
- Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes.
- Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack.
Notes
For a thicker cookie, chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking.
