  • 1.5 cups all-purpose flour, spooned and leveled or weighed in grams
  • 0.5 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 0.67 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips (or your favorite flavor)
  • 0.5 cups mini chocolate chips (optional for topping) Optional

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  3. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
  4. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar with an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 3 minutes).
  5. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients on low speed. Do not overmix.
  7. Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips with a spatula.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  2. Bake for 8 to 11 minutes or until light golden brown.
  3. Cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container for up to a week at room temperature. For long-term storage, freeze for up to a month and microwave to revive fresh-baked warmth.
