Method
Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Optionally, place a wire rack on top.
- Pat the mozzarella balls completely dry with paper towels to prevent sogginess.
Wrapping and Baking
- Wrap each mozzarella ball with a slice of bacon, overlapping slightly to enclose the cheese completely. Secure with a toothpick.
- Place the bacon-wrapped cheese balls on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes, until the bacon is crispy and golden brown.
Making the Glaze
- While they bake, prepare the maple glaze by mixing the maple syrup, garlic powder, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Once the poppers are done, drizzle the maple glaze over each while they’re hot.
- Let them cool for 2-3 minutes before serving to prevent burns.
Notes
Serve on a colorful platter with fresh herbs and alongside spicy dipping sauce or crunchy veggies. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days or freeze for up to a month. Reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
